Your Journey at a Glance
This tour is a sensory journey through contrasts. You'll trade the perfumed chaos of Marrakech's souks for the silence of the desert, then trade the desert's heat for the cool pines of Ifrane, before finishing among the medieval spirituality of Fes. Nights unfold differently each time — a riad in the city, a kasbah at the desert's edge, a Berber tent beneath a sky thick with stars. Days are shaped by real encounters: camel drivers, mountain villages, artisans in the tanneries, and guides who bring centuries of history to life at each stop.
Exploring Morocco's Treasures
hroughout the journey, you'll visit UNESCO World Heritage sites, ancient kasbahs, bustling souks, and picturesque oases. Highlights typically include:
- Marrakech medina & Jemaa el-Fnaa — explore the Koutoubia Mosque, Bahia Palace, and the legendary square at sunset, alive with performers and food stalls
- Tizi n’Tichka pass — a scenic crossing of the High Atlas Mountains with sweeping mountain views
- Ait Ben Haddou — a UNESCO-listed fortified ksar and famous film location, one of Morocco’s best-preserved kasbahs
- Ouarzazate — Morocco’s “Door of the Desert” and film-industry hub
- Draa Valley — palm groves, oases, and traditional kasbahs along Morocco’s longest river valley
- Rissani — a historic caravan trading post on the edge of the Sahara
- Camel trek into Merzouga dunes — riding into the Sahara for sunset over the sand
- Night in a desert camp — sleeping under a full canopy of stars in the dunes
- Sunrise over the Sahara — an early start to catch the dunes glowing gold at dawn
- Ifrane — the “Little Switzerland” of Morocco, alpine architecture and cedar forests
- Fes el-Bali — the world’s largest car-free urban area and a UNESCO World Heritage medina
- Fes tanneries & Al Quaraouiyine — traditional leatherworking and one of the oldest universities in the world
Journey's End in Fes
five days deliver the highlights that usually take a week or more: two imperial cities, a mountain crossing, a UNESCO kasbah, and a genuine Sahara night.
ITINERARY OF 5 DAYS TOUR PACKAGE
Day 1 | Arrival in Marrakech & Guided Visit
Arrive in Marrakech and settle in before setting out on a guided tour of the Red City. Explore the winding alleys of the medina, the Koutoubia Mosque, Bahia Palace, and the bustling Jemaa el-Fnaa square as it comes alive at dusk with street performers, food stalls, and storytellers. Overnight in Marrakech.
Day 2 | Marrakech __ Ait Ben Haddou __ Ouarzazate
Depart Marrakech and cross the High Atlas Mountains via the scenic Tizi n’Tichka pass. Stop in Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage fortified village (ksar) and iconic filming location, to wander its clay-built alleys and towers. Continue to Ouarzazate, known as the “Door of the Desert” and Morocco’s film-industry hub. Overnight in Ouarzazate.
Day 3 | Ouarzazate __ Draa Valley __ Rissani → Sahara Desert
Drive through the Draa Valley, Morocco’s longest river valley, lined with palm groves, kasbahs, and oasis villages. Pass through Rissani, once a caravan trading post gateway to the Sahara. In the late afternoon, mount camels for a ride into the dunes of Merzouga, watching the sunset paint the sand gold. Overnight in a desert camp under a blanket of stars.
Day 4 | Sahara Desert __ Ifrane __ Fes City
Rise early to watch the sunrise over the dunes before heading north. Cross the Middle Atlas region and pass through Ifrane, often called “Little Switzerland” for its alpine architecture and cedar forests — a striking contrast to the desert left behind. Arrive in Fes in the evening. Overnight in Fes.
Day 5 | Visit Fes Medina & Departure
Explore Fes el-Bali, the world’s largest car-free urban area and a UNESCO World Heritage medina. Visit the tanneries, the Al Quaraouiyine (one of the oldest universities in the world), and the intricate Bou Inania Madrasa. Depending on flight schedule, transfer for departure.
