Land in Morocco’s economic capital and start with its crown jewel: the Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest religious monuments in the world. Hit the road east, with an optional stop in Rabat, Morocco’s elegant capital, to see the Kasbah of the Udayas and the Hassan Tower. By evening, arrive in Fes — the country’s spiritual and intellectual heart for over a thousand years — and settle into a traditional riad inside the ancient walls.

Lose yourself, quite literally, in Fes el-Bali — the largest car-free urban zone on the planet and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Walk past the world-famous Chouara Tanneries, wander the Al-Qarawiyyin University quarter, and haggle in souks piled with leather, brass, and hand-painted ceramics. Nowhere else in Morocco feels this untouched by time.

The most spectacular driving day of the trip. Cross the Middle Atlas through cedar forests (keep an eye out for wild Barbary macaques), descend through the dramatic Ziz Valley palm groves, and arrive at the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi as the sun drops low. Swap your vehicle for a camel and ride into the desert for a night under a blanket of stars, complete with a traditional Berber camp, campfire music, and total silence.

Rise early for sunrise over the dunes, then ride back by camel or 4×4 to Merzouga. Drive to Rissani  nomad market ,then continue  through the dramatic Todra Gorges, with canyon walls rising up to 300 metres, before continuing into the Dades Valley. Overnight in the Dades

Continue toward Ouarzazate, Morocco’s “Hollywood of the desert” and home to the Atlas Film Studios. Visit the UNESCO-listed Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, a fortified clay village that has featured in numerous major film and television productions. drive through the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka pass, one of Morocco’s most scenic mountain drives, stopping at Berber villages along the way. Arrive in Marrakech by afternoon, with time to settle into your riad. Overnight in Marrakech.

A full day to experience Marrakech at its best:  the ornate Bahia Palace, and the towering Koutoubia Mosque by day; the sensory overload of Jemaa el-Fnaa by night, where snake charmers, storytellers, and sizzling food stalls take over the square. Shop the souks for rugs, spices, and lanterns, then unwind with a traditional hammam before your final Moroccan sunset.
